Gah. If potholes aren't road hazards what is? by jayfarm 2007-04-06 08:58:41
I have my now 3 month old new car. It has low profile tires on it, with 18" rims, so there's not much there there at all. (It's stock, I didn't do that myself.)

While it looks nice, the downside is that if you catch a good pothole you're going to damage the rim since there is not a lot of rubber there to protect it. I purchased an upgraded warentee to cover this (knowing that it would happen at some point with my luck) since they're alloy rims and not cheap.

Well, it happened during a snowstorm and BANG, clipped a pothole and damaged part of the rim. Now the service guy is telling me that potholes aren't road hazards...

I told him to go talk to the manager there, since I'm covered and the manager specifically cited this as a case of why I should purchase this $300 plan from them. It'll get worked out I'm sure, but it's just annoying.

If a pothole isn't a road hazard what is? Steel plates in the road from construction? Concrete chunks from broken sidewalks?

I can hit any of those if he wants and tear up all 4 tires and rims for them to replace...

=\
