Lost all repect for Mike & the other techs by lostrespect2007-04-06 03:48:43
I disagree - It's up to the users to USE the syste by jayfarm 2007-04-06 04:15:32
Having been there and done that there are times when no matter what you do Users won't use a backup system.

Many times at companies it's not possible or practical to backup each users desktop system. So you insist they put everything on network storage, you drill it into their heads, make sure there's plenty of network storage to be had.

Their drives map automatically, both project shared drives and "personal" drives that they can store any files they need to work on. You send out reminders of the policy on a routine basis, and clearly state that if the system needs to be reimaged ALL data locally will be destroyed, make SURE that they use the network drives.

And they still don't.

True, it seems that Columbia's network might be small enough that Mike could walk to each system and snoop it, that's typically not in the job.
