Who's up for a good deed? by Arachnid 2007-04-06 00:25:44
Kiva is a microlending organisation that finds financing for small loans for businesspeople in the third world. You can lend money - from $25 up - and once the loan is repaid you get it back, to reinvest in another loan, or to keep. It works better than donations, because it helps build sustainable businesses for these people.

Last month, several of us donated to a couple of Kiva businesses. I've decided to make a small loan each month. This month, I'm donating to this person. Anyone care to join me? Alternate suggestions for applications on Kiva are also welcome.

If we all prefix our display names with [UF], it'll be easier to identify fellow UFies on the site, too.
