I am using a pre calculated[LARGE] version. I removed all of the markup and performed the following operations:
cat pi | tr -d ".\n\r\ \t" | sed -e "s/\([0-9]\)/\1\n/g" |
awk '                                               
BEGIN {count=1} {
printf("%i %i\n", count, $1)
count=count+1
}' | gzip > pidigit.txt.gz
Which gives me an ordinal listing[VERY LARGE: 11M compressed] which indicates the 3021st digit to be 2. You could also claim 5 if you don't count the three before the decimal point as a digit. Maybe the list I am using is in error or maybe I have done something to mangle the filters somehow. Please carry on.
