Ok, serious question on how to handle a situation by Kickstart2007-03-05 13:48:02
  My ex-girlfriend is LDS/Mormon... by firehawk 2007-03-05 17:38:57
...and I met probably 200 of her family while we were together.

Generally, when you tell a LDS/Mormon missionary "thanks, I'm not really interested in joining or learning about the LDS faith", they'll immediately realize that it would be inappropriate to continue, and if they're at your door, they leave, but on good terms, with a polite greeting and well wishes.

I've taken the step of inviting them in and offering them drinks and and seat so they can take a load off for a few minutes. Not once was the subject of religion brought up again on any of those occasions, and they were always very grateful and gracious when it was time to leave. They usually didn't linger for more than a few minutes, probably due to work ethic.

Of course, that will vary with the individuals, and your mileage may vary. Hope this helps!
