Why would you want to read propoganda that... by CALL-198 2007-03-05 12:58:41
...mirrors your own views? It would seem to me a waste of time to rehash what you already feel and creates a blatant atmosphere of dis-illusioning self-advocacy. I find it far more enlightening to read the opposing propoganda and try to understand their views and arguments. It may not change my views but at least I can way the opposing arguments on their merits without creating my own personal monoculture. Having a background in rhetoric, I also find that you need to understand the opposing arguments as well as your own if you truly want to make any convincing arguments against them. If not, you will always be able to preach to the choir but never convince those who already hold the opposing view.
