The policeman who took me home afterwards told my mom that there wouldn't be any charges pressed BECAUSE I was trying to defend the animal. (I had nightmares for a month about the fact that I tried to put it out and it was effectively dead before I could.) The two boys who did it, though, would be spending quite a LOT of time in Juvenile Detention for cruelty to animals & attempted arson. Karma can be a real B! when She's mad. =D
