I saw that happening once when I was a kid, and I think that was one of the few times I ever truly "lost it". The kitty died, but the kids who had set it on fire ended up needing hospitalization themselves for only slightly less serious burns of their own. (I kicked the gas can back at them while they still held the burning stick. You can guess the rest.)
