I do believe that you can simultaneously prevent and prepare for war. I'm sorry to say it, but sometimes the threat of violence is what's needed to bring about a peaceful solution. However, many people seem to think that violence is the only path to peace. That's an absurd and dangerous attitude. Violence is, at best, a short term solution to any problem. Peace is the only long term solution to the problems we suffer.
