HTML vs CSS in e-mail presentation. Opinions? by glum_reaper2007-03-05 05:18:44
Tables are standard by bruanor 2007-03-05 06:17:46
Strange as it may seem, tables and sadly, font tags are the most reliable way to go when it comes to HTML email. Like you said about webmail clients, they can and will wreak havok with your layouts with the now standard way of doing layout in CSS.

Think of the email reader as a primitive browser. You need to fall back on the old standards to be sure that the majority of people can read the email correctly.

And while there are Plenty of good arguments against html email, the reality is that the majority of end-users now (non-power users) are using compatible email programs.
