Had a disk like that	by ideur	2007-03-05 02:23:41
The spindle made a loud high pitched noise. - saved the data - removed the top cover of the disk and restarted the disk - no visible damage to the disks ... - removed on platter at the time to see if a head was "crashed" - the spindle motor was making that noise ... I saved only the magnets ... I will use them to "fish" metallic object out of the swimming pool :-) I have another similar sounding disk waiting ... will try to "fix" the spindle with some oil ...
