HD is dying anyway, but wanted to clone my ntfs partition to a new drive so I didn't have to reinstall. Knoppix won't let me open ntfs drives r/w. modprobe says the FUSE module doesn't exist. Whatever that means. Partition Magic 8 gave it a good try, but there was some mismatch in directory entries, and two goes with chkdsk did nothing to make it better. WinXP setup is now 32% through formatting the new disk. Then just have the joy of reinstalling everything. On the plus side I xcopied all the old drive to a directory on a different drive, so all my data is safe. Just not a simple image and replace drive. Blergh.
