We recently bought a TV from Best Buy, which is, regrettably, almost our only option where I live right now (an exurb of BB's HQ in Minneapolis).
To get around their notorious pricing policies, we went to the store, checked out the models we liked and noted the prices (discretely, see first link below). Then we went with a laptop to the Panera a half-mile away, had breakfast and placed our order online as an in-store pickup. With the model we chose, the price was the same, but we did see a few discounts for other models compared to the in-store listings.
Gotta love Best Buy. 10 years later and they still haven't learned that treating customers poorly will result in really bad press. See this article (originally from the Washington Post) a decade ago...
