I stopped going to Best Buy when I learned their customer service department is run by the local constabulary. Their way of dealing with customer service issues is to call the police to have the customer arrested. In one case (Baltimore County, MD), a mishandled installation of a car stereo where the installation fee was allegedly waived by the appropriate manager was reversed by the store manager. Customer got several threatening phone calls to pay up or be arrested. Customer, who owns a tour bus company, came in and paid up with $2 bills (the installation fee being divisible by 2). Customer was arrested for passing counterfeit currency and was perp-walked out the front door. Unfortunately for both Best Buy and the Baltimore County Police, Secret Service officials verified the authenticity of the aforementioned $2 bills. A lawsuit against both Best Buy and the police is in progress.
