The restriction of arms ownership by the common man has nothing to do with crime or violence. It is about control and trust. The US is a country that was founded by the common man and the ownership of arms is a fundamental right.

If you can do something for both problems in one go why not?

It is a possibility and it should be considered. So are attacks against malls, colleges, and other high profile soft public targets. This of attack has been done all over the world including your home country. We should take actions that provide the most protection at the least expense. By eliminating "Gun Free Zones" we remove known soft targets.

BTW, I consider any person that goes into a public place and randomly kills people a terrorist. Columbine was a terrorist act, their motivation was just different then the Islamic terrorists.
