You would be amazed at how much crowds tend to thin out before 8 in the morning and after 8 at night on the weekdays. You just have to stagger your times so that you don't arrive during the main rushes. This takes into account the day of the week as well as the time and in certain cituations the time of the month as people tend to be paid on common days. I have found that it has become almost an instinct for me to avoid crowds.
