A question for Jewish Ufies by SnappingTurtle2007-02-16 13:54:16
Have fun! I'm going to a Mitzvah Bar. by hadji2007-02-16 14:03:09
You can only have a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday. by RetiQlum22007-02-16 14:15:52
Not true. by raptillicus 2007-02-16 15:35:02
The bar mitzva happens on the 13th birthday, which can be any day. The Aliyah is meaningless in terms of any sort of confirmation, it is simply that as a new man responsible for his own mitzvot, we give him every opportunity to get off on the right foot, including reading from the Torah. In my case, this was on a Thursday. Of course, I still did the whole saturday thing, or my grandparents would have killed me.
