        I'd argue that the US army is probaly half by nix 2007-02-16 14:55:16
mercenaries already, if not more. They like to claim that everyone who volunteers does so out for ideological reasons (patriotism, spreading democracy, etc.), but I'm sure that a lot do so for personal gain (pay, education, marketable skills, adventure, etc.). If not, they why all the advertising to the lower classes offering them education, skills, etc?

I'm sure that the same holds true for other countries with "volunteer" armies.
