Heinlein also wrote about the requirement of serving your nation before being granted full rights as a citizen. Only in his case it was the right to vote, and not just immigrants, all citizens were required to do a stint in the service of the nation in order to earn full citizenship. A suggestion I fully support. too may people "know their rights" but are severely lacking in their knowledge of their responsibilities as a citizen. (and this is not just in the US either)
