A shotgun with a scope is not useless. by lheggland 2007-02-16 12:42:53
In most states it is illegal to hunt any bird with a rifle. In shotgun only states it is very common to see a turkey hunter with a scope on a full choke / ex-full choke 12Ga. You pattern your shotgun using the crosshairs as a guide. In shotgun only deer states we have been using our scoped shotguns for both slug and shot for years now. You us a low power scope and center the pattern on the crosshairs.

IMO the best turkey gun you can get your hands on is a .220 Swift/.22-250/.17 Rem, etc. Then just snick them in the head at range. Unfortunately this is not allowed in most places.
