is out of a tree stand. Actually stalking during the gun season id strongly discouraged, since you are likely to move into another hunter's field of fire without realizing it. My understanding is that tree stands work primarily because deer evolved to escape wolves, and don't recognize things in trees as predators, at least in areas the mountain lions don't frequent.
