host -t MX foo.com
Will tell you what system(s) are listed as MX for foo.com

host ip.address.of.system
Tells you what name is returned for that IP address, and

host name.of.system.tld
Tells you what IP address is returned for the name.

Those are the things outside of the email content that can seriously influence spam filters.
