The use of deus-ex-machina by SlyW 2007-02-16 08:56:17
Do you consider it a copout or legitimate use of deus-ex-machina for a storyline like Harry Potter to invoke a favorable God willing to help vanquish excessively powerful bad guys?

No fire and brimstone, just a simple, stern, "No" uttered from a completely unremarkable passer-by which renders the bad guy powerless. The passer-by, naturally, fades into the background thus avoiding any kind of notice or fanfare.
