COG, FAT, COAT, PIG, SAT

This one fits for three of the four obvious patterns to match:
1. Word pattern, for which the next word would be PIAT (I had to look it up to be sure)
2. First letter differential: In COG and FAT, C is to F as P is to S in PIG and SAT - the same distance between the two letters
3. Last letter differential: In both COG/FAT and PIG/SAT, G is the same distance from T.
The only pattern it doesn't match is Middle letter differential: O to A and I to A.
That's my guess. There are many others that could also be right.
Of course, I'm probably overthinking the puzzle. Which has always been my problem with these kinds of things. There are patterns in everything and I truly believe that there is no wrong answer. Nor is there any *best* answer. There's only the ones that the puzzle makers wanted people to find. ;) |
