Someone just proposed an interesting game-theory by Arachnid 2007-01-25 19:25:04
idea to me:

Have a 'pot'. People can 'donate' money to the pot, and after some predefined period of time, half the money goes to whoever donated the most, and the rest gets split up evenly between everyone else that donated. Alternatively, the half goes to someone random, weighted by how much they donated (though I think that's less interesting, personally).

How you'd go about deciding how much (if any) to donate seems like an interesting problem in game theory, to me. Strategy would also depend on if you can see how much is in the pot, how many people have donated to the pot, or even an exact list of donation amounts.

Thoughts? Anyone know enough about game theory to actually figure this out mathematically?
