It's all out of proportion. by NemoHac2007-01-25 15:10:48

I don't know the rules in the US by NemoHac 2007-01-25 15:25:01
But in Australia any person who provides a good or serivce always has the (law-protected) right to refuse service on grounds of their choosing. [There is the caveat that anti-dicrimiation laws do impact on that right].

Cabs here do get a license to provide service but are a private enterprise. They are liable to have their licenses revoked but do government at the moment is going to risk religious discrimiation charges.

Hence my comment that it's out of proportion... The cabbies should be able to (within reason) refuse service on the basis of their religion but they should mark their cabs as such.

Further to that... The airport also has the right to refuse to pass service on to specific cabbies.
