It is not going to cost me any money -- I have plenty of bandwidth from the datacenter which I am not fully using. The script kiddies don't even make a dent in my bandwidth usage or processing power. Most of my servers are much more IO bound then CPU bound.

As for using other peoples machines: Sure, but the script kiddies are going to use that for their purposes anyway -- it might as well be me who they are not going to crack rather then somebody else. The fewer machines that they can get through poor passwords the less they will employ this tactic. My machines are one false trap in this system.

I have a server set aside where the logs are sent via serial cable. The script kiddies are also not making a dent in this log compared to the legitamate requests and they are nothing compared to the process accounting logs produced and rotated every day.
