Converting VHS Tape to DVD? Advice? by asayogure2007-01-25 11:58:26
Along those lines... by jdelphiki 2007-01-25 12:22:16
...can anyone recommend methods for recovering VHS tapes that have degraded somewhat?

Our wedding video (from 21 years ago) was never all that decent quality...the camera and cameraman didn't do us any favors...but I came across it the other day. It played for a couple minutes before hanging up...which suggests to me that the tape has gotten gummy.

Are there any tricks I can do to ungum the tape so I can try to make a copy or capture to my PC? (Currently I don't have a video card, but I have ways around that). Or should I seek out a mag-tape recovery specialist? Or am I simply out of luck?
