acceptable and even encouraged to be openly hostile or verbally abusive to smokers? My dad pointed it out to me about twelve or so years ago. We were waiting for the train, and I made a loud comment about how smoking must damage your eye-sight. This was, of course, said to Dad but aimed at the person smoking beside me, standing right in front of the no-smoking sign. Now, I notice when others display this behaviour, and am surprised at how often it occurs.
