Somebody with a network of machines brute forcing your server simply because you think it's a good idea to "waste the script kiddies processing power and time" is going to cost big $$$$ to somebody. It can also chew up CPU on your box when you're sustaining 100k SSH attempts a minute. You DO realize script kiddies use OTHER people's machines to brute for attack, right? Yikes. Holy huge logs filling your logging partition (you DID make a partition for logs only, right? So they don't fill your root partition? ....
