That would be an awesome improvement for most vegan cooking. Even for most non-vegan cooking. So many people have just never learned this, that there actually seems to be a large group of people who have no idea what a well-cooked vegetable is like.
While omnivore, I try to eat mostly what I can produce at home, so the techniques are quite interesting to me. It is illegal to have "livestock" on non-zoned-agricultural land in my county, so even though I'm in an unincorporated area, I would have to eat vegan to legally live off my own land. (Less than one acre, thus insufficient for hunting...)
Although I don't think I'll be giving up kale friend in lard anytime soon. I already did a deep soul search, and determined that I would kill animals to eat them. But it does seem immoral not to use the 'other' bits if you're going to eat them. And I'm not willing to take so many of them out that they become my my main source of calories (in most climates - if I was toxin's neighbour, I would probably be eating a little differently). |
