D&D fiction warning. ;)

--

Eshtarra sits, spellbook on her lap, trying to study. She is distracted, though, by the still sleeping man nearby, glancing at him often. Riggs looked so different, now, when he slept. The charming smile was absent, but so, too, was the hint of pain in his expression. A sense of peace prevailed.

They had discussed so many things the night before... former partners... nights at the Cobblewall... their daughter... uncomfortable truths... and lost loves.

They had not needed to discuss the possibility of intimacy between them. The answer had seemed obvious to them both.

It was late, or even perhaps early, by the time they finally settled to sleep.

She sighs, setting the book aside, and reaches over to smooth a lock of black hair back from his face. She wasn't going to be able to concentrate, her studies could wait. Getting to her feet in one smooth motion, she beckons the large panther nearby, his green eyes clearly visible in the dawn light.

Riggs had provided a meal for her, weeks ago, when she had got to the point of being unable even to feed herself properly. He'd saved her, then; she owed him a meal. With a grin, she reaches for her bow, and heads out to hunt, the great cat stalking beside her.
