The experimenter didn't cause the evolutionary change directly by design and creation, he merely sets up an environment and natural selection takes over, resulting in a line of critters which are progressively better suited to that environment. (Which is, of course, the point of natural selection.) I must toddle off. Sorry to abandon the thread.
