If you told me about that diamond, and there was reasonable evidence it might be possible, I'd certainly look in to it. I might never find the diamond, but i'm going to find an incredible amount of other interesting things along the way.

The possibility that 1) God doesn't exist and 2) if God DOES exist, he is able to hide himself from discovery are valid possibilities, but in searching for THAT, we're going to find a LOT of things we may have never otherwise found.
