Look at the "discovery" of germs. A small group of people knew there was something there they couldn't see, taste, hear, or sense in any other way. But they still KNEW it was there. They had no more proof than we do God exists, but they kept at it until they *developed* the technology to prove germs exist, and started getting answers from that technology.
