That is how X works, it is just that in most cases the workload and the drawing happen on the same box. That is how unix and Mac OS desktops currently work.

Not how we use it here, the workload is on a grunty machine (4CPU opeteron Solaris) in the datacenter and we use a thin client to get in to do work.

I routinely log into 4 or 5 machines and route the X output back to my screen, so I have processes running all over the datacenter.

Up to 16 people share the same box, each with there own thin client.
