...those are considerations added to both 4WD AND 2WD vehicles, are they not? From a static comparison between the two different types of wheel drives, wouldn't those be somewhat extraneous?
As far as the balance thing goes, I'm sure they've improved things quite a bit. But I still can remember the 4WD delivery vehicle I used to drive for which the back brakes seemed to slip a little. In 4WD, at a stopsign or light, the back drive wheels would still be pushing the car. Completely stopped, it'd try to walk sidways on me. I finally got to where I'd either have to kick it out of 4WD, or drop it into neutral when I stopped to avoid the problem. Of course, that's a defective vehicle, so it doesn't really count in the discussion here. Just a fun memory from the past. |
