is giving to someone else that which I have. Whether it is out of dearth or sufficiency is immaterial. I have it, and I give some to you for no remuneration. That is sharing. Once remuneration is involved it is no longer sharing.

It seems to me that you are drawing a line between "giving" and "sacrificial giving", and are discounting the former. Does that mean philanthropy by those that can afford it is worthless and that they should stop? They are sharing of their resources out of a sufficiency. Or would you prefer that they "give until it hurts", and only then it will mean something.
