I had much the same problem. 20-30 minutes with a normal mouse and my hand really starts to hurt. I use a Logitech marble mouse now and don't have any problems. I just couldn't get the hang of the ones with a ball under the thumb but the large ball under the two fingers works fine for me with either hand. They do take a bit of getting used to but check with the W:ET crowd as to weather my aim is now just as good as the people using a mouse. The added advantage is that it takes up a lot less space and since my hand isn't moving at all I can keep my arm on the wrist rest all the time. A good wrist rest is also nice, some of them just aren't comfortable.
