es. Actually, it was known and public knowledge in 1971, not 2004. The story made headlines again recently. But I cannot find any source that says that Carpenter got the idea from the Charlie Brandt case, but then again, nothing says he didn't either! http://jordan.fortwayne.com/jgweb/specials/thedarknessincharlie/chap1. htm The similarities : 1> kid kills family member without warning 2> kid ends up in psych ward 3> kid grows up 4> kid ends up being a serial killer. Between 3 and 4 both of them got out of the psych ward. Just Myers broke out when he was an adult, and Charlie was released at his father's insistence. Eerie.
