It's not just the US flag that arouses emotional by Peace_man 2007-01-22 10:23:07
responses. The Australian flag is at the center of a controversy where it has been known to be "brandished aggressively", and even used as a symbol for racism masquerading as patriotism.

Has the whole world gone mad? I realize that a flag is simply a symbol, and that the underlying violence is not caused by the flag, but by something else. But why is there so much violence everywhere? Have we had peace for too long? Are the benefits of peace not evident enough? Or are there really people who would rather not have prosperity if they have to share it with others, or if they are not the ones in charge?
