He had his debit card # used fraudulently and didn't check his other bank accounts to see if he had them stolen either till a WEEK later...when his e-payment to the city bounced and they called to let him know. The second account was linked to his money market account for overdraft protection and they just about emptied it... about 7k all told from three different accounts. Being in the industry my sister calls me and asks what he needs to do. I tell her he needs to notify all the card companies and his bank and THEN get a police report to document it and give that info to the companies involved. From that point he has a limited time to file an affadavit stating what transactions are fraudulent and what are correct to make getting his money back less complex...usually 10 business days. He found out about the other accounts on FRIDAY and he STILL has not called the Bank or made a police report.... and their fraud lines are open 24/7.....sigh...
