So, I've had this idea for a GURPS campaign by hadji 2007-01-22 09:46:45
(long)

bouncing around in my head. Last night, I flushed it out a bit. It still needs some refinement, but here's the basic rundown. It won't be an easy game to run, and for some of the players, it won't be an easy game to play, but I think the potential payoff in fun and chaos would be worth it.

Not sure if I'll ever get the chance to actually run it, though. :-( With the people I know who are avid enough players to be interested, and good enough players to pull it off, well we all have jobs now, and we're in four different cities in three different states. They're neighboring states, though, so I MIGHT be able to pull something off once a month, but there's still the schedules.

Ah well, here's the scoop. :-)

Character 1: A leaper (as in the TV show Quantum Leap)
Character 2: General security (unarmed combat, weapons)
Character 3: Thief (Physical/electronic Security systems, stealth, forgery)
Character 4: Spy (Computer security circumvention, Computer systems expert)
Character 5: Counter spy (unarmed combat, light weapons, interrogation, some other stuff)

Characters are members of a government agency assigned to top-secret missions. In this particular case, a scientist was working on an invisibility cloak that could be applied to war machines (military vehicles, military aircraft, naval ships, carriers, and subs).

The team’s mission is to find and recover the scientist, his research data, and a working prototype, all of which have gone missing.

Characters 2 and 3 are pretty much straightforward. They are who they claim and seem to be (among their team, that is).

Character 1 has just lept in, and (like the show), he has a swiss-cheese memory. Doesn’t know who he is, who he’s supposed to be, what he’s supposed to do, nor what his skills are. His character sheet would be kept by the GM and all skill rolls would be made by the GM. His mission would be to disable the invisibility cloak and discredit it as a fraud or a hoax. Otherwise, an unknown foreign power will use the technology for stealth attacks, prompting various countries to blame various other countries and spark WWIII.

Character 2 is pretty much straightforward.

Character 3 has noticed some odd activity in his bank account. A sum of money was there and gone. His experience in his craft has helped him to notice, lately, that he’s being watched. Conspicuously inconspicuous vehicles have been staked outside his home, and he’s noticed people at tables in view of his own who just didn’t fit in somehow. Gut instincts. His goal is to find out who’s watching him and why.

Character 4 is a foreign spy who has infiltrated the government and is collecting top-secret information. His latest mission is to retrieve the invisibility cloak for his own government. At the very least, he is to secure the research, but if he can secure the scientist and the prototype as well, all the better.

He’s also had a tip from his own government that the US government may have received information about there being a spy on this team. He’s been throwing the trail off himself by framing Character 3. He deposited a sum of money in 3’s bank account, and quickly transferred it to an anonymous off-shore account. In addition to that, he has registered credit cards in 3’s name which have histories of purchasing overseas flights and staying at various hotels and eating out at various restaurants.

Character 5 is a brand new addition to the team. He’s a counter spy who is there to keep an eye on Character 3, who is suspected of being a foreign agent. His goal is to find evidence, and find out who he is working for, and what they know.
