Invoke Uficle: Cleaning Windows Install by Eternal_Newbie 2007-01-22 09:09:37
I have been suckered into cleaning up an Inspiron 1500 running WinXP :P The bad news is I can't nuke it and do a clean install. The good news is that it shouldn't bee too badly infected, since it hasn't been on the 'net - much.

Since it is a while since I have done this I thought I had better check what I should do what programs I need, so far I have

Process Explorer
AVG or Avast to replace the expired Norton 2003
Possibly a firewall, McAfee Personal Firewall 2.5 is installed
Ad-Aware or something similar
A registry cleaner - I used to use RegCleaner / JV16PowerTools, but that has gone commercial - Any suggestions?

Like I said I's a while since I've done this so all suggestions are welcome.

Also I've just noticed It doesn't have any updates since Service Pack2 installed
