The other side of that is that while the educators are in general good. The systems are now geared to pass the aptitude tests and not to teach anything like logical thought, personal responsibility or (gasp) being willing to try new things yourself to learn.

I would also lay a HUGE amount of blame on the parents in this case because the schools can only do so much when the teachers only see each student for aobut an hour a day at the jr. high and high school levels. If the parents don't take the time to spend time with their kids and expose them to things then no one will.

You can *not* depend on the school to expose the kids to everything they need to be exposed to, the parents have to do their part as well. (My family is all teachers except me. And I write technical training docs and train people as well as do IT.)
