...dictate that the wave and stencil thing would work to pass on the shadow. The cool/scary part is that the researcher was able to slow down the light (shorten its wavelength by a hundredfold), buffering it, and was still able to maintain the information being stored on the photon.

The more he learns about buffering quantum particles (like the photons he's playing with), the closer we get to some really creepy-cool sci-fi gadgets like quantum computers or computational structures that don't require electronics to function.
