There has been some voices, about "implementing facilities for demonstrations" in Brussels. Nobody knows if it were "serious" or just freewheeling after a few drinks. But the words got out into the open.
Summarizing:
- *someone* thought that, being one of the political centers of the E.U., Brussels "attracts" protesters, and can suffer from that.
- *someon_else* remembered the real damage that can result if demonstrations aren't organised (apparently a protest demonstration of european farmers, dating over 20 years back in time, is STILL in collective memory)
- *still_another_person* responds that "manifestations need logistic support, so either the city council or a private organisation could provide that" : snack-stands, barriers (for guidance only: these people come from far away and we don't want them to get lost_in_the_city) , public conveniences (can be placed strategically along the route), and busses of course, to bring them back to the railway stations and even airport. Oh, maybe they could provide "temporary parking facilities" too, but those may, in time, become less temporary.
I laughed when I heard that, but mybe some day some adventurous investor will take the plunge.
And with the backing of a protestors-for-rent professional organisation, it could become a real business scheme.
There will always be A group who want to voice their opinion in the centre of decisionmaking, as is the EU in Brussels.
