Working at a state university here. We have a lot of different ways to take time off. Here follows my best understanding of them: Leave ("vacation") is accumulated indefinitely. Comp time (from when I work on holidays is accumulated with a cap, but it's a big cap and I'm not close to it. Personal leave (commonly called "sick leave") is accumulated but with a cap. "Family leave" I don't remember the details. Community service is use-it-or-lose-it, two days each calendar year.
