That's why it's pretty important we all grow some skin and learn to understand that not all of us are masters of the English language and know all of its little points. You intent is clear so I think we can all settle on that without refining every word.. :) On a personal note, I don't think what you did before was meant to be unkind, but I do agree it can be interpreted in such tone. But like I said, happens to the best of us..
