why the 12-week delay in Lost? by austinkp2006-12-13 23:24:58
It's a new (last year) way of dealing with shows. by ag_wyvern 2006-12-13 23:39:37
I guess the Christmas season is a slow period, less intensive tv watching, so less valuable airtime.

What they do now is put popular shows on a 3 month hiatus and debut new shows in their time slots. They hope to build on the audience that was watching the popular show, and maximize their dollars -- sponsors pay more for shows when there are more people watching.

Shows going on hiatus this year include Lost, Prison Break, Heroes, Jericho, Bones (I think), House (I think), and probably more.

Personally, I *hate* the strategy. Sigh.
